The 2024 Olympics are here, and the excitement is off the charts!
Whether you’re into gymnastics, tennis, or my personal favorite, swimming, there’s so much to enjoy.
With Paris hosting, athletes are spoiled for choice with amazing sights, smells, and food. Yet, some stick to their tried-and-true meals.
This holds true for seven-time Olympic gold medalist Katie Ledecky.
So, what’s her breakfast?
Most people think Olympic swimmers need a huge breakfast before hitting the water, but Ledecky proves otherwise.
In an exclusive chat with EatingWell, she shared her super simple breakfast routine:
“I’ll have oatmeal with some peanut butter and a banana,” she said.
Ledecky eats this almost every day, finding it perfect for both in-between and before practices.
This meal is not just healthy but also packed with protein to keep her energy levels high for those intense laps.
Which other meals power up Katie?
For lunch, Ledecky likes to keep it easy with eggs on toast.
“I’ll [usually] put some spinach or tomatoes in my eggs, but I kind of mix up what I’m putting in my eggs,” she said.
This flexible approach keeps her lunch interesting and nutritious.
When it’s time for her afternoon practice, she grabs a Core Power drink for a quick pick-me-up. She also loves snacking on nature’s goodies.
“I love berries,” Ledecky explains. “Just getting some extra fruit or vegetables in, that’s usually my snack.”
Dinner is where Ledecky enjoys mixing things up.
“I’ll make chicken or steak or salmon with something to go with it, whether it’s a salad or some rice or some other vegetables,” she shared.
The Olympic season officially kicked off on Friday, July 26, and swimming events started this past Saturday. We’ll be cheering Ledecky on as she aims for more gold!
